Texas Works: Products & Portraits of Talent

Cowboy boots and hats come from Texas, certainly. But how about snowboards, vanilla extract, and lipstick? 

The answer is yes, and you can see these products and more in Texas Works: Products & Portraits of Talent. This beautifully produced, photo-rich book showcases the variety of outstanding product brands based in the State of Texas. From cold brew coffee and ukuleles, to airboats and bolo ties, Texas Works presents vibrant, original photography of nearly 100 products from one of the world’s largest and most thriving economies.  

Interspersed among the product photos are portraits of 20 talented Texans behind the brands, as you’d find them at their workplaces across the Lone Star State. Short Features provide insight to 9 of these makers, including profiles on two bespoke denim makers; an artisan chocolatier; the owner of a football factory; a broom squire; a craft bourbon distiller; a charitable leather bag maker; a quilter; and a vintage fashion designer.

You don’t have to be a Texan to enjoy Texas Works. The book appeals to anyone who appreciates beautiful photography, successful entrepreneurship, and the American makers’ movement, or who just enjoys discovering high quality products. 

This 10x10” coffee-table style book is published by No. 4 St. James. Internationally renowned jewelry designer and Austin resident Kendra Scott contributed the Foreword, and Texas products expert Vincent Friedewald served as editor and curator.
