A Lime and a Shaker by the Tippling Bros.No. 4 St. James
We’ve been waiting for someone to publish the perfect book about Mexican cocktails, and our wait ended with this gem by Tad Carducci and Paul Tanguay, aka the Tippling Brothers.
A Lime and a Shaker is the result of Carducci and Tanguay’s combined 50+ years of experience as bartenders, restauranteurs, cocktail consultants, and globe trotters.
In this 256-page, hardbound book, the Tippling Brothers present over 70 creative suggestions for Mexican-style cocktails and accompanying snacks. While a majority of the recipes are tequila-based, you’ll also discover whiskey, gin, lagers, and of course, mezcal at the heart of many concoctions.
Beyond cocktails, A Lime and a Shaker also presents an excellent section on syrups and salts, and recipes for guacamole, pico de gallo, and other foods to complement your cocktails. Throughout the book, vibrant photos by Lauren Volo educate as much as they entice.
Sadly, the Tippling Brothers are not from Texas, and truth be told, they’re not even brothers. “Tipple” is an Old English word that means to consistently indulge in drink, essentially leaving you in a perpetual sate of tipsiness.
But they’ve written a book that every Texan should love to have, and would be proud to share. A Lime and a Shaker pairs nicely with our Standard Issue Margarita Glasses and Halo del Santo Cocktail Garnish; we suggest for a festive gift, you give all 3, and then invite yourself to the delicious party that follows.
