Regions of Texas Candles Collection - Cotton Wick

No. 4 St. James
$31.00

The natural elements of Texas are as diverse as the colors on an artist’s palette, and that was the inspiration behind our Regions of Texas Collection candles, hand-poured for No. 4 St. James by candle making expert Carrie Crumbley in Denton, Texas. The result of more than 6 months in development, each of the seven original scents has been refined to depict the distinct character of the Texas region it represents.

Featuring double cotton wicks, clean burning soy, and heavy, American-made glass cylinder vessels (13.5 oz), the candles provide a burn time of approximately 45 hours. Candles are housed in an elegant off-white paper tube.

Order one, or all seven, or any number in between. Save by ordering one of each scent; select the Statewide Set from the menu above. Your Regions of Texas Collection candles ship directly to you from Austin, Texas.

The Regions of Texas Collection:

Prickly Pear & Agave (Region: Big Bend Country): Sweet like hard candy, with notes of watermelon, apple and rose, against a subtle base of agave. Though named for desert plants, it’s slightly tropical in its profile, and burns strong to sweeten the air in your favorite space. Inspiration: The beautiful agave plants and prickly pear cacti—with their purple fruit and yellow flowers—dotting the dramatic landscape of the Chihuahuan Desert, in far West Texas.

Marrs Orange & Hot Pepper (Region: South Texas Plains): As surprising as it is exceptional: Vibrant citrus, like fresh squeezed orange juice, combines with a dose of spicy hot pepper to create a scent unlike any you’ve experienced before. An instant favorite, and be warned: the pepper notes may tickle your nose. Inspiration: the Marrs orange is the only orange variety native to Texas, grown abundantly in groves across South Texas. Hot peppers are iconic of the South Texas cultural experience. An unlikely yet perfect pairing.

Matagorda Morning (Region: Gulf Coast): One of the most popular scents in the Collection, Matagorda Morning combines notes of sea salt, amber, and coastal Texas wildflower, resulting in a light and fresh perfume. Inspiration: Naturally serene and kissed with clean Gulf breezes, Matagorda Bay sits at the center of the Texas Gulf Coast, with history at its port and in town dating to the earliest days of Texas.

Bourbon Barrel & Stonewall Peach (Region: Hill Country): At first, you’ll detect the bourbon; breathe in again, and you’ll discover the peach. This candle is perfectly balanced between the robust caramel notes of bourbon whiskey and the light fragrance of fresh peaches. Inspiration: A springtime Sunday drive through Central Texas. The new whiskey distilleries in this region are quickly earning attention on the national bourbon scene, and the peaches from the tiny town of Stonewall have been earning local praise for decades.

Sweet Woodsmoke (Region: Prairies & Lakes): With its distinctive notes of charred wood, cedar, chocolate, coffee, and molasses, Sweet Woodsmoke is soothing and familiar, like comfort food. A perfect choice for more masculine environments. Inspiration: The barbecue joints of the Prairies and Lakes region are some of the best in Texas, meaning they’re some of the best in the world. The pit masters here rely on carefully controlled woodsmoke to flavor their meat; this candle pays tribute to that very special and esoteric culinary art.

Loblolly Pine (Region: Piney Woods): In a word: Fresh. The Loblolly Pines of East Texas are unique among conifers, with a scent more akin to rosemary herb than typical mountain pines. We refined this scent to accurately match the rosemary notes of the true Loblolly Pine, giving it a profile perfect for aromatherapy and adding a clean, Christmas-like freshness to your home. Inspiration: The forests of East Texas, known as the Piney Woods, are populated primarily with the majestic Loblolly Pine. There’s no better natural ambassador for this sleepy, shade-filled, and friendly region of Texas.

Fresh Cotton & Saddle (Region: Panhandle Plains): If Texas could be represented by only one scent, this might very well be the one to do it. Notes of fresh cotton and linen, together with the bold scent of freshly conditioned leather, combine to create a timeless fragrance, like stepping inside a historic dance hall. Inspiration: The vast cotton fields and the gritty saddle makers of the Texas panhandle. It just doesn’t get any more Texas than that.
