Surf TexasAustin, TX
New from native Texan and fine art photographer Kenny Braun is Surf Texas, a stunning compilation of black and white images depicting the surprisingly beautiful surf culture of the Texas coastline.
Over the course of more than a decade, Kenny Braun traveled from his landlocked home in Austin to the best breaks along the 600 miles of Texas shores. From Surfside Beach, near Galveston, all the way down to Port Isabel, near Mexico, Braun photographed the often overlooked and under appreciated life of Texas surfing.
The payoff is presented in 144 pages, with amazing captures of waterspouts and taker surfing, hurricane swells and zinc masks, and at least one dolphin at play.
As with any work of outstanding photography, Surf Texas will rest appropriately on the coffee tables of homes a thousand miles from the sea. You don’t have to be a surfer or a Texan to turn these pages and remark, and smile. Sunlight on the water and seabirds overhead are universally admired; likewise, anyone is sure to admire this unique and novel work.
The Foreword to Surf Texas was contributed by best-selling author Stephen Harrigan.
